Calcionate is used to prevent or treat hypocalcemia in people who do not get enough calcium from their diet. Calcionate can be used to treat conditions resulting from calcium deficiency, such as bone loss (osteoporosis), weak bones (osteomalacia and rickets), decreased thyroid function (hypothyroidism), and certain muscle disorders (such as latent spasticity).
Calcionate can also be used to ensure that certain patients, such as pregnant or breastfeeding women or postmenopausal women, get enough calcium.
