Medicine Description
About NALBUPHINE Synthetic opiate agonist/antagonist, Narcotic analgesics Mechanism of Action of NALBUPHINE Nalbuphine is a phenanthrene derivative opioid analgesic with mixed opioid agonist and antagonist activity. It inhibits the ascending pain pathways, altering the perception of and response to pain by binding to opiate receptors in the CNS. Nalbuphine is thought primarily to be a kappa agonist. It is also a partial mu antagonist analgesic, with some binding to the delta receptor and minimal agonist activity at the sigma receptor Indications for NALBUPHINE 1.Moderate to severe pain 2.As an adjunct in balanced anesthesia Interactions for NALBUPHINE Additive CNS depressant effects may occur with other CNS depressants e.g. alcohol, anaesthetics, anxiolytics, hypnotics, TCAs and antipsychotics
