About Cinnarizine Piperazines derivative, Antihistamine, Antivertigo. Mechanism of Action of Cinnarizine Cinnarizine is a specific competitive H1 receptor antagonist. It suppresses the vestibular end organ receptors and thus inhibits the activation of central cholinergic receptors. Cinnarizine inhibits contractions of vascular smooth muscles by inhibiting the calcium channels preferably in the arterial smooth muscle. Indications for Cinnarizine 1.Motion sickness 2.Vertigo and other vestibular disturbances 3.Vomiting in Meniere`s disease 4.Treatment of vascular disorders (peripheral & Cerebrovascular) Typical Dosage for Cinnarizine Adult: Motion sickness: 30 mg to be taken 2 hour before beginning the journey and if necessary dose can be repeated every 8 hours Vertigo and other vestibular disturbances, vomiting in Meniere`s disease: 90 mg / day in 3 divided doses Treatment of vascular disorders (peripheral & cerebrovascular): 75 mg 1-3 times daily.
