Medicine Description
About Streptokinase A plasminogen activator, Antithrombotic. Mechanism of Action of Streptokinase It exerts it`s fibrinolytic action by activating natural fibrinolytic system. It causes lysis of thrombus or clot and thus recanalyses occluded blood vessels such as coronary artery. It combines with plasminogen to form an activator complex which causes proteolysis of plasminogen molecules to plasmin (fibrinolysin). Plasmin converts insoluble fibrin to soluble fibrin fragments. Indications for Streptokinase 1.Acute myocardial infarction 2.Pulmonary embolism 3.Venous thrombosis 4.Arterial Thromboembolic disorders 5.Thrombophlebitis
