Konakion is used to treat vitamin K deficiency that may occur due to malnutrition or problems with intestinal absorption. Vitamin K deficiency appears as excessive bleeding or abnormal bruising. In such cases, the drug can be useful to ensure that vitamin K levels return to normal. Konakion is routinely given to newborns in some countries to prevent neonatal hemorrhage, which may occur as a result of low vitamin K levels.
Konakion can be used to treat bleeding conditions resulting from taking anticoagulants.
