About Praziquantel Anthelmintic, A trematodicide. Mechanism of Action of Praziquantel It is a broad spectrum anthelminthic against Trematodes & Cestodes and their larval forms. The drug exerts its action by producing strong muscular contractions which leads to paralysis. The drug also causes tegumental vesicle formation causing the parasite to detach from the wall of the vein, intestine or tissues. Indications for Praziquantel 1.Taeniasis 2.Cerebral Cysticercosis 3.Schistosomiasis 4.Other Fluke infections 5.Hydatid disease
