Syntocinon is used to improve uterine contractions to achieve early vaginal delivery for maternal or fetal reasons, as an adjuvant in cases of miscarriage, and to help control postpartum bleeding.
Syntocinon stimulates labor in women who are going into labor naturally. This endogenous uterine stimulating hormone triggers successive uterine contractions similar to those that occur in natural childbirth. It also has antidiuretic and vasoconstrictive effects.
