Both Controloc and Nexium are used to reduce stomach acid production and treat conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and peptic ulcers. They both belong to the class of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), but differ in their active ingredients and some pharmacological properties.
Controloc Tablets Ingredients
Controloc Tablets contain the active ingredient pantoprazole. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that works by irreversibly binding to the proton pump (H+/K+ ATPase) in the parietal cells of the stomach, inhibiting hydrochloric acid secretion and reducing gastric acidity.
Nexium Tablets Ingredients
Nexium Tablets contain the active ingredient esomeprazole. Esomeprazole is the S-isomer of omeprazole. It works in the same way as pantoprazole by inhibiting the proton pump in the parietal cells of the stomach, reducing acid production. Esomeprazole is a more effective analogue of omeprazole at inhibiting gastric acid.
