Erypioten is used to treat anemia and reduce its symptoms. It is given in several specific cases, in adults and children aged 1 to 18 years who are undergoing kidney dialysis sessions, in adults and the elderly who are undergoing peritoneal dialysis, in adults who suffer from poor kidney function, but who have not yet started kidney dialysis sessions, and to treat anemia and reduce the need for blood transfusions in adults who are receiving chemotherapy for solid tumor cancer, malignant lymphoma, or multiple myeloma, and in adults as part of a program to prepare patients for organ transplants.
Erypioten is also used to treat moderate anemia to prepare patients for some major surgeries.
