About Mebeverine Reserpine derivative, antimuscarinic, a musculotropic antispasmodic, Motility stimulant. Mechanism of Action of Mebeverine Mebeverine has a direct relaxant effect on smooth muscle. This will inhibits gastrointestinal propulsive motility and gastric acid secretion. Indications for Mebeverine 1.Irritable bowel syndrome Typical Dosage for Mebeverine Adult: 405 mg / day in 3- divided doses to be taken 20 minutes before meals. Dose can be gradually reduced after 1 week if sufficient response is obtained. Children above 10 years: 405 mg / day in 3- divided doses to be taken 20 minutes before meals. Dose can be gradually reduced after 1 week if sufficient response is obtained. Children below 10 years: contraindicated.
