Phenytin is an antiepileptic drug and is primarily used to treat conditions associated with disturbances in electrical activity in the brain. Phenytin is effective in controlling various epileptic seizures, especially partial seizures and tonic-clonic seizures, which are grand mal seizures.
Phenytin is also used as a preventive measure in some cases to prevent seizures resulting from brain injuries or after neurosurgery. In addition, and among less common uses, doctors may resort to this drug to treat other neurological disorders, but this depends on the doctor's assessment of the condition and the patient's symptoms.
